Baby Shower with my Girlfriends

Hi Friends,
I've added pictures of my first baby shower!  It was such a beautiful day and a huge boost to my excitement for becoming a mommy.

Rejuvenated is the first thought that comes to mind. I had a really tough couple days following my last treatment and could not have asked for a better way to turn things around. My best friend Leslie invited my best friends in the world and together we laughed, ate tons of yummy food, and I was spoiled with the most adorable, thoughtful gifts. I haven't been this excited about being a mommy until now. Today made it all so real to me. I have been reminded time and time again of this amazing support system I have, but to have the ladies help me prepare for my baby boy just gives me a confidence I didn't realize I was lacking and longing for. I cannot wait to share pictures of the beautiful decorations (that I'm lucky enough to get to put in Lansing's nursery), the beautiful ladies and the wonderful gifts!

The Hostess with the Mostess!

Leslie, you have been my rock since I was 13. Thank you for giving me this day and for making it so happy and amazing! I had so much fun! I loved getting to spend real girl time with you and all my favorite people. I really don't have the words to tell you how thankful I am. The food was delicious and very Misty-esque:-) I LOVED everything!
I will have much more to share as soon as I have the pictures. I want to hug each of you all over again just so you don't forget how much I adore you!! Thank you for bringing so much love and light into my life!
Soooo full of love and gratitude,

  1. It was an honor to have this shower for you and baby L. This was the shower we've been dreaming of since we were little kids ourselves! More than the decorations, the food or anything else, I am just so happy that you had a GREAT time and had lots of fun with all of your special friends. It was truly a night to remember and I can't wait to share the pictures with you! They are SO stinking cute!!! I love you to pieces. I can't wait for you to join me in mommyhood and I can't wait to see that sweet little face of his!!

  2. Hi Misty...I'm Jessica Kirkland from Pen N' Paperflowers. Your best friend Leslie shared your baby shower...and your story with me. I was honored to put the feature together and share it with my readers on the blog today:

Thank you for sharing your personal story.
I know how difficult that must be...
let alone the day-to-day up and down emotions you are feeling.

I know you are surrounded by a lovely, compassionate group of friends and family.
I just want you to know you have a new "blogging" friend who is wishing you a fast recovery.
I look forward to seeing Lansing and wish you peace, comfort, strength and unyielding faith through this difficult journey.

Here is another blog you may want to check out for inspiration.
She too is young and has been diagnosed with Cancer.
    This is her normal blog:

And then there's a link on her sidebar Titled "The Cancer Chronicles"

    I hope you are inspired...

  3. Misty...

I forgot to include the link to the moving "Rite of Passage" video from Lil' Blue Boo:

It brings me to tears every time...

It's women like YOU that help make the rest of us stronger...
    Thank you...

  4. Ah, thanks for sharing the pictures, Misty :) You look wonderful. Love the picture of you and Bridget together and all of the beautiful ladies. The shower is lovely and I LOVED seing the HUGE LANSING letters !! I feel like we all already know him and seeing his name like that made him that much closer to being here with all of us to ohh and ahh and love and care for him....One more shower, coming up =) Can't wait....hope you're doing as well as you look. Take care you, Aunt Chris

P.S. I was rummaging through my night table the other day looking for who knows what. I keep all sorts of odds and ends in there from ever since I was a girl. Anyway, I saw this folded up piece of paper. The kind we all use to learn how to make our letters and to write when we're young. As I unfolded it, a snap shot picture from when you were 2 or 3 fell out and into my hand which made me smile. You were an adorable, ornery child :) Anyway, as I continued to unfold the paper, I saw that it was a note from you :) it said "I love you, From Misty To Chris"...the other side was covered (each line)with Big and little A's, B's and C's. I cried at the thought that all those years ago, I was someone who got to share in the growth of your new skills. You were THRILLED to learn to write...I remember it very well. All you ever asked for was paper, pens and pencils...I"m sure your Mom remembers, too :) Also, for the memory of an adorable, fun, high spirited creative little girl who waltzed into our lives and grew up into a beautiful, strong, courageous, loving and thoughtful woman. I"m so proud of you and cannot wait for Lansing to meet his Momma on the "outside" :) Love ya!

Hi Friends, thank you so much for taking the time to leave a comment...I read each and every one of them and they mean so much to me. Have a fabulous day!! XO, Misty
